We built FlexWork because we were tired of how difficult it was to find great developers.

Both of us were running companies in Japan and spending far too much time going through endless resumes, chasing cold leads, and waiting weeks for replies that never came. Recruiters were expensive, job boards were full of ghost profiles, and most talent platforms felt broken.

So we decided to build something different. A place that actually connected companies and developers who were ready to work.

That first version of FlexWork took off. Startups could create real profiles and talk directly with skilled developers from around the world. Developers appreciated being discovered for who they were, not hidden behind job boards or outdated listings. We even introduced our Try Before You Hire concept, which allowed both sides to work together on short term projects or contracts first. It gave everyone time to get to know each other before making a big commitment. Hiring, we believed, should feel more like dating.

Through the challenges of building another matching platform, and through many honest conversations with different startups and recruiting agencies, we began to see things differently. Everyone loved the idea, but the same truth kept coming up again and again. Companies didn’t need another platform. They needed qualified developer leads. Real people who were actively looking, open to side work or new projects, and who would actually respond.

It became clear that what people wanted most was not another place to post jobs, but a way to reach developers who were already open to real opportunities.

So we listened.

That was when we decided to focus fully on what people were asking for. Real, verified developer leads. And that is how FlexWork DevLeads was born.
